- General
1.1 These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by Cottage Street Garage Ltd (“the Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) to you, the customer.
1.2 By authorising work to be undertaken, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1.3 These terms do not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other relevant legislation.
- Estimates and Quotations
2.1 All prices given verbally or in writing are estimates only unless otherwise stated.
2.2 If, during the repair, further faults or necessary work is identified, we will contact you for approval before proceeding.
2.3 Estimates are valid for 30 days from the date given.
- Booking and Work Authorisation
3.1 By leaving your vehicle with us, you authorise us to carry out diagnosis, inspections and repairs as agreed.
3.2 We may test drive or inspect the vehicle as needed to diagnose or confirm a fault.
3.3 You must disclose any known issues, modifications, or safety concerns prior to us working on the vehicle.
- Parts and Labour
4.1 We use either Genuine, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), equivalent quality, or reconditioned parts, unless otherwise agreed.
4.2 Labour is charged at the rate agreed at the time of booking.
4.3 All replaced parts (except warranty/return parts) can be returned to the customer on request at the time of collection.
- Payment Terms
5.1 Payment must be made in full upon completion of the work and before the vehicle is released.
5.2 We accept payment by debit/credit card, or bank transfer.
5.3 Vehicles not collected within 7 days of completion may incur storage charges of £15 per day.
5.4 The Company retains a lien over the vehicle until payment has been made in full.
- Warranties and Guarantees
6.1 We offer a 12-month / 10,000-mile (whichever comes first) warranty on new genuine parts supplied and fitted by us, unless otherwise stated.
6.2 Warranties do not cover:
- Wear and tear items (e.g. brakes, tyres),
- Customer-supplied parts,
- Negligence or misuse after collection,
- Faults unrelated to the original repair.
6.3 Warranty claims must be reported promptly and the vehicle returned to our garage for inspection.
- Customer-Supplied Parts
7.1 We do not guarantee or offer warranty for any parts supplied by the customer.
7.2 Labour to fit customer-supplied parts is undertaken entirely at the customer’s risk.
- Storage and Uncollected Vehicles
8.1 Vehicles left on site for more than 7 days after work is complete may be subject to storage charges.
8.2 After 30 days, we may begin proceedings under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 to recover costs or dispose of the vehicle.
- Liability
9.1 We are not liable for any loss or damage unless caused by our negligence.
9.2 We are not responsible for loss of income, business interruption, or indirect losses.
9.3 Customers must ensure the vehicle is insured while on our premises.
- Complaints and Dispute Resolution
10.1 If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us directly to allow us to resolve the matter.
10.2 In line with The Alternative Dispute Resolution for Consumer Disputes (Competent Authorities and Information) Regulations 2015, we inform you that The Motor Ombudsman (www.themotorombudsman.org) is an ADR body you may contact. We are not currently a member of this scheme and are not obliged to participate.
- Data Protection
11.1 We comply with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
11.2 Your personal data is used solely to process bookings, invoices, and for legitimate business communications. We do not sell or share data with third parties without your consent.
- Jurisdiction
12.1 These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
